Within forty-five minutes of “The Strip” in Las Vegas there are several spectacular canyon environments. During our recent visit with desert-dwelling family we were able to spend time in three of them. The wild weather made for interesting photographs.

Photography continues to teach me about the act and the art of “seeing” - such as: the simple beauty of a sunrise can be found in places other than the horizon.
Sunrise this morning. It was amusing to see all the joggers, bikers, skaters, doggers stop what they were doing, haul out their cellphones, and make a photograph. I know because I was doing it too.
Well...here's my story: I sat in a damp field across the street for an hour waiting for the penultimate eclipse photograph. The lens was fogging up every few minutes, bugs were buzzing. So, I went back home and
shot this one out the office window...the reciprocal of Murphy's Law. Meet Jack - one of our paddling partners for the recent annual trip to Canoe Country. Great weather, good fishing, lots of solitude, and ample opportunity to make some photographs. Still, it seemed like just a little too short a time.
"Found Art" under the pines. I almost always carry a camera with me for the opportunity to make photographs like this. Never did find my danged golf ball, though.
Officially, the Summer of 2015 doesn't end until September 23 - the date of the Autumnal equinox. But the signs of the change of season are everywhere. So, thoroughly enjoy these warm days!
